THE AUTHOR Author, professor, historian, and lawyer Mark Vinet was born in 1964 in the city of Sorel near Montreal in the province of Quebec, Canada. He shares a bicultural English and French ancestry and is fluent in both languages. He is founder of the North American Historical Institute and the Music History Association, which presents a series of lectures by Mark Vinet on Canada and the American Civil War and the Evolution of Modern Popular Music. He appears as a guest historian on the Discovery Channel and Biography Channel and is the author of 15 articles and 4 books including ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY: The Business of Music, Books, Movies, TV, Radio, Internet, Video Games, Theater, Fashion, Sports, Art, Merchandising, Copyright, Trademarks & Contracts, CANADA AND THE AMERICAN CIVIL WAR: Prelude to War, EVOLUTION OF MODERN POPULAR MUSIC: A History of Blues, Jazz, Country, R&B, Rock and Rap, and the French language Civil War book entitled Le Québec/Canada et la Guerre de Sécession Américaine: 1861-1865. Mark Vinet is the host of a radio show on CHOD-FM 92.1 that deals with history and entertainment related topics. He currently teaches college level history, entertainment business, contracts and copyright law courses. De par sa généalogie et son éducation, il possède un héritage biculturel et bilingue. Il est le fondateur de L'Institut Historique de L'Amérique du Nord et de L'Association de la Guerre de Sécession Américaine du Québec/Canada, qui produisent une série de conférences de Mark Vinet sur le Québec/Canada et la Guerre de Sécession Américaine.
